RYA DAY SKIPPER OR COASTAL SKIPPER
YACHTMASTER EVENING COURSE To help you achieve the RYA shorebased qualifications in the easiest way possible we have structured the Day Skipper and Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster into EVENING CLASSES There are 20 x 2 hour modules on the following sbjects :- 1. Latitude and Longitude, Charts and Publications, Chart Corrections and True Courses 2. Magnetism, Compass Checking, Variation and Deviation. 3. Basic Position Fixing, Dead Reckoning and Estimated Position, Three Bearing Fixes 4. Tidal Set and Drift, Tidal Diamonds and Atlas method. 5. Meteorology, Air Masses, Cyclones, Anticyclones, Fog, Weather Forecast and Mapping. 6. Course to Steer, Counteracting Tidal Set and Drift and Leeway, Estimated Time of Arrival. 7. Tidal Prediction (Standard Ports) 8. Tidal Prediction (Secondary Ports) 9. Pilotage and Buoyage Systems 10. Passage Planning Technique 11. Advanced Navigation, Electronic Navigation 12. Safety The start week is :- Monday 2 October, 1900 until 2100. The courses will run 10 weeks before Christmas and 10 weeks after, 2 further sessions are set aside for the final exams. The cost for the course, including charts, RYA publications, final exam and certification is £175.00 You will need a plotter and dividers for you to complete navigation homework.
